Should I go on statins, or should I approach a more aggressive diet/lifestyle as discussed in the episode #452: Reclaiming Health in a System Built to Keep You Sick with Brian Sanders and the clip Questioning Trust?
I would love to hear your opinion. Should I go on statins, or should I approach a more aggressive diet/lifestyle? Are statins the only way if I am diagnosed with Familial Hypercholesterolemia?
I have a question about this episode Lies you’ve been told by your doctor! A conversation with Ken Berry, MD and this Cholesterol Confusion. I did my bloodwork, and my cholesterol came up super high: LDL 7.5, NON-HDL 8.2, HDL 1.35, Total Cholesterol 9.6, HDL Ratio 7.12, Triglycerides 1.68. The doctor wants to put me on statins, but at 38 years old, I don't feel comfortable with that. I've listened to many of your podcasts and experts opposing statins. I probably have Familial Hypercholesterolemia, as both my parents suffered from high cholesterol. If my CT score is not good enough, the doctor told me to start statins immediately. I know that statins can shorten life expectancy and damage cognitive brain function. However, I did an echo-radiology test, and my heart results were excellent.
