I am writing a book on body, soul, and spirit. One theme of the book is that the brain is a miraculous computer that processes stimuli but is incapable of conscious thought. In other words, there is a separation between the brain and the mind. I just viewed your interview with Dr. David Berson and wondered what your position is on the brain's ability or inability to create consciousness. I have read articles from numerous neurologists and theories of ancient philosophers about the existence and nonexistence of this separation. Most neurologists seem to agree that consciousness has never been measured or observed in the brain. My belief is that the mind is just another name for nonmaterial consciousness of the soul. I am intrigued by your depth of understanding regarding neuroscience. Do you have a podcast or article that addresses this connection? Thank you.
How do brains work as discussed in episode #108: Take Charge of Your Mind with Dr. Caroline Leaf and the clip Understanding Mind and Brain?
Have you read Iain McGilchrist's work on the two brains? He wrote a book for laymen called "The Master and his Emissary." It seems when most podcasters talk about the brains or the function of the brains, they refer to "The Brain" and rarely discuss how their topics are influenced by the two sides of the brain. Please help me understand this.
